In a few short hours 2017 will be over and soon we start afresh with our reading goals and goodreads challenges! Looking back at the first few books of the year, I can't believe it was only this year that I read 'Everything, Everything' but also, how was it not just a month ago that I picked up 'Caraval' and made it my first review? There's also things we aren't aware of when we read - the amount of pages, the number of male v female (v multiple authors, anthologies or gender neutral). So I want to take this time, my last post of 2017, to look over all my statistics for the year! I haven't been able to figure out how to include a nice graph so unfortunately you just get bullet points... Sorry! In 2017 I read 75 books and completed my goodreads reading challenge of 75 books! In total, I read 21,194 pages.
I could spend hours thinking up more points but I'm going to leave it there. I'm impressed at the fact all of my books were over 100 pages, though if we include picture books or graphic novels we have some contenders:
The Worm and The Bird - 64 pages Emma and Violet - 51 pages My ratings were pretty even across the top three ratings with only a few two stars, no one stars (!) and a handful of no ratings which I typically leave for picture books or others that I feel could really swing in any direction. I don't know if my lack of low ratings is due to a really good reading year or because I was afraid of rating low but nothing is jumping out at me as having deserved a one star and I know there were some 2.5 star books that swayed near to two stars but were rated up as they were overall more good than bad! My average length was 282 pages which is alright but I'd like to be less afraid of big books in 2018 (I mean, I do have Les Mis on the cards... and hopefully before I go to Paris... in five weeks... help! Overall, 2017 has been a pretty damn decent reading year with all my personal life things considered but I'm hoping for a pretty damn BRILLIANT reading year in 2018. Now just to get the year started and knock my TBR out of the park! I also want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for reading and supporting my blog! I know these little things aren't as loved as they once were, with booktube and bookstagram being infinitely more popular, so seeing hundreds of views on my posts every week really warms my heart. Here's to big things for the next year!
