After posting everyday over Christmas and New Year, I feel like I haven't posted in forever. I guess that explains this post. I don't really have anything to share with you except an explanation for why I've barely read and thus not posted as many reviews as I had planned: #amwriting.
Okay so more specifically #amediting and it's definitely taking up a good chunk of my time. I'm equally loving and hating the process and after some interest from my xponorth pitch on twitter I am getting very excited (read: scared af) for submission!
I know it's the cliche thing to say that I've been writing for as long as I can remember and whatnot but I really have. Every so often my mum or gran will come across a story I wrote as a five year old, or one I wrote for school. I've even got some of my high school creative writing pieces on my current laptop! I may have forgotten my love for reading and writing for a time throughout high school but whenever I had to read a book or write a story I always loved it. I just never kept it up for my own pleasure. Now, I'm back in love with it all. I truly want nothing more in this world than to see my book on shelves. To just have one person love my work. I thought I was passionate about musical theatre and being on the West End until writing fought it's way back to me. I simply cannot imagine doing anything else. Of course, I'm terrified about rejection but reading is subjective. The first 100 agents/publishers I send it to might hate the way I write, my characters or plot. They might just simply not be interested in pursing it as they already have 20 titles in the same genre coming out within the next year or two. There are so many reasons to be rejected and that's okay. I'm going through my first proper experience of editing and I'm feeling pretty clueless. I've enlisted a few beta-readers with postive comments thus far but considering one is a close friend I'm always hesitant to fully believe it. I guess what I'm saying is that for the next little while I may be somewhat absent on here, though I am trying to work out some sort of writing related content where I can update you on my novel and whatnot. My first choice publisher only requires the first three chapters so hopefully I can finish those up within the next week and then I won't need to focus so much of my time to my manuscript and can come back here, to my little blog and back to the place that encouraged my writing habits once more!
