My hopes and desires for what I can achieve with my little place on the internet
I started this blog just to give me somewhere I could share my love of books with people who want to read it. This blog will always be my little internet home. It will always be where I go to to document the books I read, buy, want to read, etc. I never thought it would ever be anything more. However, since having the blog, I have been given a number of bookish opportunities both on and off the internet. I've been sent ARC's, taken part in blog tours, and was even asked to chair an in-store event. I never expected any of this back in March - I don't even think my wildest dreams saw anything of the sort happening; especially with such a new blog. I've been incredibly lucky with what I have been able to do so far and it has inspired me to set myself goals so I can focus on blogging regularly and to help motivate me. First of all, I want to do more events. Chairing Estelle Maskame's event was absolutely incredible and gave me a taste of the sort of things I could do if I work hard at my blog and I absolutely want the chance to do more.
It would be incredible to have a snippet of my review blurbed on a book. To have my words and name printed on the pages and to share my love of that book with someone who didn't even know this corner of the world wide web exists. Ok, this one is kind of a lie as my review of DIMILY did get published but it was in the Indian Edition so I haven't gotten to see it in person... Shall we say blurbed on a UK/US/AUS book? Does that work? I'd like to partake in more blog tours or other promotional content for books such as author interviews etc. The ex-bookseller in me misses being able to promote books all day everyday so I love nothing more than shouting about the underdogs. I don't want the next John Green ARC with a paid sponsored post, I want the indie publisher's latest YA to read so I can review it for free. Like let me promote your book. I want to make sure I post regularly and keep on track with my OwlCrate unboxings, hauls and wrap-ups. I'm fine with reviews and things that don't have a typical schedule, and I'm not too bad with getting monthly wrap-ups posted, but I lose track of what I bought and when and I haven't figured out how I want to layout my OwlCrate unboxings yet. Finally, I want to take more photos. I am a nightmare for just not taking pictures and having a very bare blog post - like this one. I don't have the best lighting in my house, nor do I have a good place to take said pics so they often just made the post look bad and unprofessional - however I do have an iPad Pro now so hopefully I can edit my pictures now and make them post worthy. And I think that's it. Those are my five main goals for my blog that I hope to achieve within the next year, but hopefully a few of them will be in motion by the time the blog hits its 1 year birthday! Well then... Perhaps 'end blog posts better' should have been a goal too. I'm horrific for this part. PS. I changed the blog header on the home page - did you notice?
