I’m still on such a Dare To Fall high after my blog tour stop yesterday that I just can’t help myself and need to talk about it more. Before you all x out of the tab, I’m going to put a twist on things; I’m introducing a new segment that may or may not become a regular feature on the blog – Book Playlists. This is pretty much what it sounds like: a playlist that is themed around a certain book. Obviously a playlist contains a fair chunk of songs so I won’t have some massive post with all 20 or so songs (although no doubt I'll add more to the playlist as I find them) to discuss but, at least in today’s case, there are certainly a few songs that I do think are very "Dare To Fall-esque" and that I want to share a little more with you guys. You can find the spotify playlist here. Now, I’m not some musical genius and I certainly don’t pay too much attention to the actual meaning of the lyrics in songs so I’m not saying that these are 100% relatable to the book in what they say, but they do give me Dare To Fall vibes which is what counts, right? How You Learn to Live Alone - Jamestown Story It's not an Estelle Maskame book if there's no Jamestown Story songs that relate to it! For those who have read this I'm sure you can guess why the title of this works with the book. It could actually work for a number of characters. This is one of those songs that's a little sad but also hopeful which is exactly what Dare to Fall is like. Extraordinary – Idina Menzel This song definitely doesn't fully resonate with the book as Idina is singing about her now ex-husband and is a lot older than Jaden and Kenzie, but I was listening to this one day and there'a s part of the chorus that I could picture Kenzie thinking: "Cause I always wonder If we could've have been something Or is it all in my mind and I always wonder Here I might have missed something That we left behind and Do you ever think of me And have you wondered could we be Something extraordinary" It makes me think of Kenzie when she's starting to fall for Jaden again. She had something with him but she walked away from him so now she's wondering what would have been if she had stayed. I also picture Kenzie's mom when I hear this song. C’etait salement romantique (it was damn romantic) – Coeur de pirate This song is in French but there’s a lyric in there that sums up exactly what Kenzie did when she walked away from Jaden and why - to protect herself: "Pour couvrir mon coeur d'une cire plus noire Que tous les regards lancés à mon égard J'ai tenté de voler loin de toi J'ai tenté de voler loin de toi" To cover my heart with a wax darker than all the glances thrown at my regard I tried to fly far away from you I tried to fly far away from you Perfect Pair – Laura Bell-Jack
I don't have much to say about this song, I just wanted to highlight it as it's a song by a girl I know and it’s just super cute and makes me think of Kenzie and Jaden (Jenzie? Kaden?) There’s a bunch of other songs on the playlist that are less resembling of Kenzie and Jaden etc but still fit the vibes (in my opinion) of the book! It's only got about 20 on it at the moment but I'll add more songs as I find them and it's also a collaborative playlist so if there's any you think really belong then do add them on!
