So I did pretty well at not buying many books in July. And then YALC happened and POOF 26 books later, here we are! The Evening Tide
I was kindly sent this and its sequel by the author. Not usually my style, The Evening Tide is a fantasy following Elves.. i know. Really not my style but they're short and I want to broaden my horizons so... The Kingdom I couldn't resist this when I saw it. The aesthetic is stunning but then it involves a themepark?? AND ROBOTS? WHAT? Everything That Makes You This book came to my attention because I was looking for books similar to the musical If/Then in which we see one person through two different time lines based on a choice they made so as you can guess, this book has alternate lives/parallel worlds/that kinda vibe! I don't want to know too much because spoilers! Two Summers This is similar to the above but I do know it follows a girl called Summer (I think. I'm doubting myself now!) and the two different summer vacations she could have! To Make Monsters Out of Girls It's Amanda Lovelace poetry, what more to say? The Liars I won this at YALC and I'm super excited to read it - I've no idea why since, as usual, I don't know what it's about!! Jelly I loved the look of this book and it sounds awesome - a girl on a giant jellyfish?? I ultimately bought it because the publisher were giving away adorable Jelly themed tote bags if you bought a copy at YALC! How to Be Luminous What excuse do I have for this purchase, you ask? There was a mystery book at one of the booths and the book I got I already had and this was the best option to swap lol The Cold is in her Bones Here's where we get into my "I don't have a reason for this" purchases. I was at a stall. There was some sort of discount or offer or freebie so I just... bought some books.. I picked this one specifically because the person who wrote the tagline was at the booth... Starry Eyes I LOVED Night Owls by Jean Bennet so when there's an offer and you see her books: BUY EM. LIKE I DID. Serious Moonlight As above but also this sounds so cool with a mysterious author living in a hotel and a girl who works there and a guy doing some snooping, I believe. Also romance which is less cool but whatever. All the Bad Apples This was definitely NOT a "wtf" purchase but rather a "EEEK I NEED THIS BOOK" purchase... she says. She really just bought it because it looked pretty. D.O.G.S So. S.T.A.G.S wasn't my fave read ever. 3 stars. Yet I CONSTANTLY think about it despite it being a good three years or so since picking it up. So I saw the sequel and I was just like "WELL. I NEED IT THEN." The Merciless i & ii This is one of those books that's often deemed dark and has "unnecessary" content. Which means it's really fucking dark and morbid and exactly what I LOVE. Unless, people didn't say that and I made it up in which case i'm gonna be disappointed. Bright Burning Stars Listen, some guy offered me a free William Shatner book if I bought something... So i bought like five books. The Black Coats I thought this was called The Black Cats but it turns out I was wrong and is instead about a feminist group of badass women getting revenge on people who treat women like crap called The Black Coats.. WIN. Unstoppable I'm really running out of excuses. What's this book about again? Twins? I think... All the Ever Afters This is a cinderella retelling of sorts. I say of sorts because it actually follows her stepmother's life rather than cinderella.
