I've had a pretty rough few months with reading... or maybe it was just september - either way, it's felt like forever. But finally, in october I managed to read 6 books and I am so happy with that! Notes from My Captivity: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
I really enjoyed this book. I gave it 4 stars. We follow an aspiring journalist who ventures to siberia with her stepdad, a man who believes a family who vanished years ago are still alive and living in the wilderness. Our main character aims to disprove his theory but ends up kidnapped by the very people she doesn't believe exist! All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... This is a fun and quick book that takes the traits of aspergers (now just known as autism) and pairs them with cute cat pictures. It's a really entertaining way to introduce kids to the traits of the condition but also provided this aspie with some happiness while reading because not only did she feel seen, she saw cats!! Stalking Jack the Ripper: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... Man this was disappointing. It wasn't bad, it was just predictable and UGH. 3 stars. Save the Cat Writes a Novel: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... This was an absolute 5 star read. I don't like giving non-fiction, especially this type a rating as it's pretty subjective but the stuff in here just clicked with me and made SO MUCH SENSE that I had to give it five stars. Hopefully when I put it all into practice is makes my writing process that little bit more, dare I say, "easy".. Here There Are Monsters: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... This was a flat out 2 star. I don't even want to dwell on it anymore. It annoyed me. The two sisters annoyed me. The parents the paranormal. Just no. Finding Baba Yaga: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... Ending the month was this little gem of a novella in verse. 4 stars from me. I don't want to say much, mostly because I'm not sure what I could say about it other than I really enjoyed it. Emma x
