January 2018 saw me entering my third year of receiving Owlcrate and honestly, I am shooketh, as the kids say. I simply cannot believe I have had 24 boxes (25, if you include this one!). I love love love this subscription box. Lately, I've seen a lot of people partering with other book boxes and comparing them to Owlcrate and being really criticising towards them, but, although Owlcrate dominated bloggers and continues to be hyped, I truly think it's deserving. SO. With that, I ought to get onto the unboxing!
I'll admit I'm a little late with this. I haven't actually unboxed an Owlcrate on here since July, back when I was still "Booklycat". I find these sort of things work a lot better visually, so I did a little Instagram Live at the time and posted on my ghost of a booktube channel. I figure the best way to do this is just let you watch the video... When I did the Live, I wasn't anticipating resurrecting my booktube channel, hence why I didn't just record it as a video or at the very least do it in landscape. I say "resurrect"... Is it just a one off or am I bringing it back... lol I'm being all mysterious but I don't even know yet! We shall see!
As for the January Owlcrate - I LOVED IT. I am still in awe with the wax melter and ugh those wax blocks smell sooooo good! As you guys know, I did read The Cruel Prince (one of 4 Owlcrate books I've actually read... We won't talk about my thoughts, but if you haven't yet you can read them here. I say every single time that Owlcrate can't get any better but it does. It always does. Even if it's a theme I don't like, or the book is one I don't care for, there's always at least one thing - often more - that make the purchase soooo worthwhile! I've also absolutely loved watching this company grow; from most of the items being bookmarks and promo codes for ebooks etc to now providing a second book in the box, mugs, exclusive covers and physically signed books. I think my favourite thing each month is the badge. I seem to collect badges and pins so I get to look forward to adding a new one to my collection each month. Do you get a bookish subscription box? Which one? Or which one do you wish you could get? If I had the budget I would love to try out PageHabit, purely for the annotated books!
